Highly Efficient VRF HVAC Network for Modern Corporate Campus

Medxon designed and deployed a comprehensive 850 HP (Horsepower) Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) central cooling network for ITC Infotech's new green IT workspace, spanning five floors of collaborative and office work environments.

The Engineering Challenge

The commercial campus aimed for LEED Gold certification, meaning the HVAC system had to satisfy ultra-low energy performance indices (EPI). Furthermore, the internal layout featured dynamic partitioned seating and private conference hubs that required flexible, independent thermostat controls.

Medxon's Executed Solution

• High-Efficiency Inverter Systems: Configured modular, multi-split outdoor VRF condensers running eco-friendly R-410A refrigerants and step-less inverter scroll compressors.
• Dynamic Heat Recovery Modules: Configured select floor-zones with 3-pipe heat recovery modules to balance cooling in server server rooms with warming in common cafeteria zones during winter months.
• Custom Evaporators: Suspended 180 low-static slim ceiling cassette and duct units, giving team leaders complete control over local office thermal zones.
• BMS Software Link: Managed the entire network through high-speed BacNet communication links to ITC's central Building Management System for automatic off-hours shutdown.

Project Outcomes

The energy-smart design lowered seasonal HVAC power consumption by 24% compared to standard chilled water networks, directly helping the campus secure its target LEED ratings.
